Why is this a focus area for the Foundation?
The Foundation’s focus on land conservation in the San Francisco Bay Area results from Gordon and Betty Moore’s life-long interest in environmental conservation and their desire to give back to the local community.

How much have you provided in Grants?
Since its inception in 2000, the Foundation has awarded more than $124 million in land conservation grants that helped to protect over 72,000 at-risk acres.

What defines the Bay Area?
The San Francisco Bay Area Program’s Land Conservation and Science and Technology Museum efforts focus on a 10-county area that includes Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, and Sonoma.
