Palo Alto, Calif. – The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation appointed Ken Moore as chief administrative officer. Moore will lead facilities, finance, grants administration, human resources and information technology for the $6 billion private foundation.

“We are fortunate to be able to tap Ken’s expertise to oversee our administrative functions,” said Harvey V. Fineberg, M.D., Ph.D. “This is especially critical as we work to optimize our core operations in the year ahead.”

Ken Moore also serves as chief program officer for the Bay Area program, which focuses on local conservation and informal science learning. It accounts for approximately five percent of the foundation’s annual grantmaking.

“I’m looking forward to taking on this expanded role, which affords the opportunity to work with a high-performing team to identify new ways to improve foundation operations,” said Moore.

Ken Moore is the eldest son of Gordon and Betty Moore and serves as a trustee of the foundation.
