Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
With Moore Foundation support, Instituto Socioambiental (ISA) has been analyzing current pressures and potential threats to Brazilian protected areas, especially those due to the exploitation of natural resources and infrastructure development. This work has revealed that mining and roads constitute the greatest challenges: mining concessions exist in 61% of federal protected areas and roads impact 57% of them.
You can see the map on ISA's website, in Portuguese, here.
