With a long history of support for conservation in Peru, Germany has announced an additional €15M for sustainable finance for Peruvian protected area systems. This follows a €10M commitment in 2016, and €20M in 2013.

Earlier this year, an event in Lima marked the official launch of Peru's Natural Legacy Initiative, a Project Finance for Permanence (PFP) effort — supported in part by the Moore Foundation — that is securing long-term financing for Peru’s national parks. The Peru Legacy Initiative is led by a diverse group of partners, including Servicio Nacional de Áreas Naturales Protegidas por el Estado, Ministerio del Ambiente, World Wildlife Fund, Sociedad Peruana de Derecho Ambiental and Fondo de Promoción de las Áreas Naturales Protegidas del Perú. The initiative will provide park rangers and other local entities with the tools and support they need to help conserve Peru’s natural resources.
