Scientists on an expedition through Madidi National Park in Bolivia, have now discovered seven animal species that are new to science. In total, the scientists have discovered three frogs, one lizard, and three catfish. Ten plant species are also currently under investigation as potentially new species. The work was conducted by the Wildlife Conservation Society and local partners.

The Madidi National park is the world’s most biologically diverse protected area. The new species are the latest in a string of discoveries made by researchers with Identidad Madidi, a multi-insitutional effort to find an describe unknown species and to showcase the natural wonders of Bolivia.
