This grant to The Nature Conservancy supports the innovative conservation finance initiative called Forever Costa Rica. Through this public-private partnership effort Costa Rica will establish an ecologically representative and effectively managed system of terrestrial, freshwater, and marine protected areas, with a stable source of funding, making Costa Rica the first developing country in the world to meet its goals under the United Nations’ Convention on Biological Diversity’s Program of Work on Protected Areas.
