For research in the laboratory of Senior Investigator Dr. Jonathan P. Zehr on the microbiological underpinnings of the nitrogen cycle in the ocean. The objectives of this grant are to investigate the microbiology, diversity, physiology, biochemistry, and biogeochemistry of the open ocean nitrogen cycle, including N2 fixation and nitrate assimilation.
