Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
The Life Sciences Research Foundation provides research funding for outstanding postdoctoral fellows in all areas of the life sciences. The organization was founded in 1983 as an alternative instrument for guiding monies from industry, foundations, agencies and other donors to the non-targeted support of outstanding young scientists. Since that time, nearly 500 fellows have received postdoctoral fellowships.
A selection committee of renowned scientists identify the top 5 percent of applicants from a pool of approximately 1,000. Those selected are matched with sponsors to underwrite their research. Sponsors include many of the top names in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, foundations and individual philanthropists.
The Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation has supported numerous Life Sciences Research Foundation fellowships over the years.
