Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
Health Plan of San Mateo is a nonprofit health care plan that offers health coverage and a provider network to San Mateo County's underinsured population. Founded in 1987 to address and resolve the issues of poor access to physicians and an uncoordinated health care system, Health Plan of San Mateo currently serves more than 130,000 residents in California’s Bay Area. The plan serves vulnerable adults, including older adults and people with disabilities.
All of Health Plan of San Mateo’s profits are reinvested in services for the local community. Local autonomy allows the plan to respond nimbly to the highest priority needs of members, providers and the community.
Our work with Health Plan of San Mateo spans several care-focused programs, designed to recognize affordable housing as essential to enabling individuals with high service needs to live in the community.
