The Skeena Wild Conservation Trust is a regional conservation initiative founded in 2007 with the goal to make British Columbia’s Skeena River watershed and nearby coastal communities a global model of sustainability. Its vision is an improved system of watershed governance that puts wild salmon and the environmental future of the region at the center of decision-making. The trust brings together governments, First Nation people and members of the public to advocate for strategies that protect and sustain long-term environmental health and optimize economic return to the community.

Its three main program areas include habitat and species protection, sustainable fisheries management and community engagement. The trust also conducts public and media outreach, seeks funding to build the local salmon economy and researches relevant ecological, economic and social issues affecting the area. The SkeenaWild Fishing app serves as a guide for fisherman on local weather, species identification, tide tables and conservation priorities. A bimonthly newsletter offers updates on projects and opportunities for engagement.
