Founded in 2003 and based in Washington, D.C., the Center for American Progress is an independent, nonpartisan policy institute dedicated to improving the lives of all Americans through bold ideas, as well as strong leadership and concerted action.
The center aims to develop new policy ideas, challenge the media to cover the issues that truly matter and shape the national debate. With policy teams in major issue areas, they can think creatively at the cross-section of traditional boundaries to develop ideas for policymakers that lead to real change. By employing an extensive communications and outreach efforts, they adapt to a rapidly changing media landscape and assert their ideas in the national policy debate.
The Center for American Progress’s key issue areas include energy and environment, health care, regulation and markets and higher education, among many others. The organization also publishes a regular series reports in each issue area, as well as newsletters and action alerts.
