The Morris K. Udall and Stewart L. Udall Foundation is named after the brothers who worked to resolve the problems facing our environment and natural resources during their congressional careers, and in Stewart’s case, while he was also Secretary of the Interior. Established in 1992, the foundation’s mission is to provide programs to promote leadership, education, collaboration and conflict resolution in the areas of environment, public lands and natural resources in order to strengthen Native nations, assist federal agencies and others to resolve environmental conflicts, and to encourage the continued use and appreciation of our nation’s rich resources.
With offices in Tucson and Washington, D.C., the Udall Foundation’s programs include the Native Nations Institute, which provides governance and development resources to indigenous nations; The Udall Center for Studies in Public Policy, which focuses on environmental and indigenous nations’ policy; and the U.S. Institute for Environmental Conflict Resolution, which helps federal agencies and other affected stakeholders address environmental disputes and conflicts. The foundation also sponsors a Parks in Focus program, which connects youth from underserved communities to nature through photography, a Congressional internship and undergraduate scholarships.
