Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
Founded in 2005, Fundación Latino Americana para el Trópico Amazónico (Latin American Foundation for the Amazon Tropics) or FundAmazonia is a nonprofit organization dedicated to local capacity building for conservation projects, helping local communities set up community based wildlife management programs, assisting protected areas in wildlife conservation and promoting conservation oriented research activities in the Peruvian Amazon.
The foundation also helps operate two museums—the Museum of Historic Boats and Museum of Indigenous Cultures—and conducts field courses on the management and conservation of wildlife in the Amazon. It also helps support the biennial Latin American Wildlife Conferences, a strategic forum for discussion, capacity building and refinement of methodologies for science-based, community-led wildlife management and conservation in Latin America.
