Founded in 1888, the National Geographic Society is one of the largest nonprofit scientific and educational institutions in the world. In addition to publishing its flagship magazine, the society has supported over 11,000 exploration, conservation and scientific research projects around the world.
In support of its mission to inspire people to care about the planet, the society’s education foundation funds activities promoting and advancing geographic education in the United States and Canada. Its headquarters in Washington, D.C. offers family-friendly exhibitions, speakers, concerts and films. And its media platform, which includes its magazine, television station, movies, books and apps, reach approximately 500 million people each month.
Through the Committee for Research and Exploration, the society awards grants for scientific field research and exploration, such as the discovery of a near-perfect frozen mammoth and the tracking of long-distance migratory birds. The Conservation Trust supports innovative solutions to conservation challenges and issues of global concern.
Our work with the National Geographic Society ranges from producing an Amazon-themed map supplement in the National Geographic Magazine to support for a conference on the development of a sustainable ocean economy.
