Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
Based in Anchorage, the Foraker Group works to build the capacity of nonprofits and tribes in Alaska. In 1988, an assessment by the United Way of Anchorage found that local agencies needed support with fundraising, planned giving, finance and technology. In response, the Foraker Group was launched in 2001 to provide these services in addition to other organizational development programming for the state’s nonprofit organizations.
Foraker consultants take on core business practices for individual nonprofits in areas such as business planning, human resources and web development, while also mentoring staff or key volunteers to build internal skills and competencies. Board and leadership development is a major focus to better enable senior staff to serve their organizations. Foraker also offers variety of classes, workshops and certificate programs that help organizations make strategic decisions and enhance the long-term sustainability of their work.
