The Science Friday Initiative, founded in 1991 and based in New York City, is an organization dedicated to increasing the public’s access to science and scientific information.

The initiative produces Science Friday, a talk show that broadcasts each Friday on public radio stations and is distributed by Public Radio International. Listeners can also access the program through iTunes, Soundcloud and Stitcher. The weekly show is hosted by science journalist Ira Flatow. Guests of the show include scientists, authors and policymakers commenting on nature, science and technology issues. Listeners are invited to call in and ask questions of the host and guests. Science Friday also produces award-winning digital videos, original web articles and educational resources for educators.

The Science Friday Initiative secures underwriting for the program from individual donors, Public Radio International member stations, foundations and corporate underwriters.
