Formed in 1970, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is a federal agency within the United States Department of Commerce. Its mission is to understand and predict changes in the Earth's environment, from the depths of the ocean to the surface of the sun, and to conserve and manage the nation’s coastal and marine resources.

With its mission of science, service and stewardship, the agency maintains a presence in every state and has emerged as an international leader on scientific and environmental matters. NOAA’s products and services ranges from daily weather forecasts, severe storm warnings and climate monitoring to fisheries management, coastal restoration and supporting marine commerce. Its scientists use cutting-edge research and high-tech instrumentation to provide citizens, planners, emergency managers and other decision-makers with reliable information.

Our work with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration includes support for the improvement of the West Coast groundfish data management system and the development of Atlantis ecosystem integrated models.
