The Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg, one of the largest universities in Germany, was established in 1742 and is located in the cities of Erlangen and Nuremberg in Bavaria.
Friedrich-Alexander University offers over 70 Master’s degree programs in a wide range of disciplines; international degree programs taught in English and several foreign languages; double degree programs that allow students to gather academic and cultural experience abroad, improve their language skills and enhance their prospects on a globally orientated job market; and nine doctoral degree tracks. The university also maintains well-established partnerships with a variety of research institutions around the world in areas that range from materials science and process engineering to teaching and learning processes.
The research-focused university has established 24 interdisciplinary centers, which cover a wide range of topics including religious studies, labor market and workplace studies, gerontology, neuroscience, embedded systems and molecular materials. The centers provide a platform for interdisciplinary research, ensuring continuity in projects which require several disciplines to work together outside of the boundaries of faculties and departments in order to succeed.
