Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
Boston Medical Center is a private, not-for-profit, 496-bed, academic medical center. It serves as the primary teaching affiliate for the Boston University School of Medicine and is the largest provider of trauma and emergency services in New England. The hospital offers a full spectrum of pediatric and adult care services including primary and family medicine and advanced specialty care with an emphasis on community-based care.
In 1996, Boston Medical Center was created by the formal merger of Boston City Hospital and Boston University Medical Center Hospital. Committed to providing high-quality health care to all, Boston Medical Center reaches into the community as a founding partner of Boston HealthNet, a network of 13 community health centers serving more than a quarter million people annually. A leading research institution, the center has sponsored over 500 research and service projects, separate from the medical school, in the areas of laboratory-based biomedicine and clinical programs.
