Launched as a pilot in 2014, the Conversation U.S. serves as an independent source of news and views from the academic and research community, delivered directly to the public for free. The Conversation originated in Australia in 2011 and expanded to the United Kingdom in May 2013. Boston University’s College of Communication houses the U.S. pilot, which draws content from the Conversation’s global newsroom.
A team of professional editors works with research experts to promote better understanding of current affairs and complex issues through analysis, commentary and reporting. Digital content is organized into a range of topics including arts and culture, environment and energy, science and technology, education, and economy and business. The site features articles from thousands of academic experts around the world. It has a monthly audience of 2.7 million users and a reach of 23 million through Creative Commons republication. The Conservation site also includes an online free database of key research leads by topic for press, Web or TV follow-up. A job board lists open positions at university and research centers around the world.
