Founded in 1951, WGBH is a public broadcaster serving southern New England with 11 public television services, three public radio services and local productions that reflect the issues and cultural riches of the region. Its mission is to “enrich people's lives through programs and services that educate, inspire and entertain, fostering citizenship and culture, the joy of learning and the power of diverse perspectives.”
WGBH is PBS’s single largest producer for television, the Web and mobile. PBS series, such as Nova, Masterpiece, Frontline, American Experience, Antiques Roadshow, Curious George, Arthur and Simply Ming, are produced in its Boston studios. A pioneer in developing educational multimedia, the broadcaster offers free media resources to support innovative teaching and learning for all ages, as well as in-person workshops, multimedia demonstrations and messaging campaigns.
WGBH has been recognized with hundreds of honors including Emmys, Peabodys, duPont-Columbia Awards and two Academy Awards.
