Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
The International Pole and Line Foundation is an international charity based in London operating worldwide to engage the market and develop pole and line fisheries.
Many coastal communities around the world rely heavily on fishing for their livelihood. Most of these fisheries, for example in the small island states in the Asian-Pacific region, are small in scale and struggling for survival. Pole and line is a traditional fishing method, which is both socially and environmentally responsible. Requiring just one hook, one line and one fisherman, fish are caught one at a time.
Founded in 2012, the foundation has branches in the Maldives and Indonesia. It works to develop, support and promote socially and environmentally responsible pole-and-line and hand-line tuna fisheries around the world by developing sustainable and equitable one-by-one fisheries and increasing access to the market.
