Headquartered in Washington, D.C., RESOLVE was founded in 1977 to promote the effective use of collaboration and consensus building in public decisions and to apply conflict resolution to natural resource, environmental and public health issues.
The RESOLVE team possesses expertise in the application of mediation and other consensus building processes to complex public policy issues in the areas of drinking water, energy, environmental quality, health and biotechnology, land-use and transportation and natural resources, including rivers and watersheds. The organization partners with community, business, government and nongovernmental organization leaders to design innovative, sustainable solutions. In collaboration, the organization works to support healthy people and communities, clean air and water, resilient ecosystems, smart energy, sustainable development and solutions to natural resource conflicts.
RESOLVE staff helps clients to identify, develop and test sustainable solutions; develop collaborative approaches and programs; strategically analyze and address issues; increase capacity to get results through training and mentoring; resolve disputes and manage conflicts; and take advantage of the latest collaborative technology. Projects include work on an agriculture and water stewardship initiative, developing a collaborative food safety program and organizing a public-private alliance for responsible minerals trade.
