Chartered in 1949, the University of San Diego was founded by Mother Rosalie Hill of the Society of the Sacred Heart and Bishop Charles Francis Buddy of the Diocese of San Diego as a college for women. Today, the private, co-educational, research university is committed to academic excellence, Catholic intellectual and social traditions and providing a superior liberal arts education for scholars of all faiths.
