Based in Corvallis, Oregon State University is a public research university that offers more than 200 undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degree programs.

The university has the largest enrollment of students in Oregon with 30,000 students statewide. Oregon State University is the only public university in the United States to obtain all four granting designations (land-grant, sea-grant, space-grant and sun-grant).

Founded in 1868, Oregon State University is the state’s leading public research university with 11 colleges and $309 million in external funding in 2015. Its researchers collaborate in three priority areas: advancing the science of Earth ecosystems, improving human health and wellness and promoting innovation and economic prosperity. The university's college of earth, oceanic and atmospheric sciences operates several state-of-the-art laboratories, including the Hatfield Marine Science Center and two oceanographic research vessels. The oceanography department is now leading the largest ocean science project in United States history, called the Oceangoing Research Vessel Program, which is designed to assist in the research and study of the waters of the Pacific Coast.
