Founded in 1998, Instituto del Bien Comun (the Common Good Institute) is a Peruvian private nonprofit that works with rural communities to promote optimal management of common goods, such as communal lands, water bodies, forests, fisheries and protected natural areas. Based in Lima, the institute offers advocacy and legal advice, land management, information system on native communities, monitoring unit and documentation services.

The organization develops programs in the Peruvian Amazon, in the regions of Pasco, Ucayali, Huanuco and Loreto. Its programs are focused on managing large landscapes while promoting the adoption of municipal and regional conservation and sustainable development policies with the active participation of local communities. The institute also works to achieve legal security for indigenous territories through land use and titling and expansion of native communities, and to trengthen the social and cultural capital of communities and their organizations.
