Founded in 1991, the Save Our Wild Salmon Coalition is a nationwide coalition of conservation organizations, commercial and sportsfishing associations, businesses, river groups and taxpayer advocates working collectively to restore self-sustaining, abundant and harvestable populations of wild salmon and steelhead to rivers, streams and oceans of the Pacific Salmon states.

With offices in Seattle and Spokane, Washington, the coalition focuses its efforts on the Columbia and Snake River Basin. At one time, the basin was one of the most productive salmon landscapes on the planet—up to 16 million wild salmon returned each year. Today, that number has dwindled significantly to as few as 10,000. Save Our Wild Salmon uses litigation, collaboration, policy work, community organizing, public outreach and donor financial support to put an end to activities such as dredging, which harm salmon, and advocate for programs that are needed to protect and restore them.
