Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
Blue Forest Conservation and its partners have developed the Forest Resilience Bond, a financing mechanism that raises private capital to restore forests today, in order to reduce the risk of severe fire tomorrow. With investments from the Moore Foundation, The Rockefeller Foundation, Calvert Impact Capital and CSAA Insurance Group, private capital will now fund the upfront costs of forest restoration. Investment through the Forest Resilience Bond will drive a forest restoration project protecting 15,000 acres of forestland in California using ecologically based tree thinning, meadow restoration, prescribed burning and invasive species management. This restoration work will reduce the risk of severe fire, improve watershed health, and protect water resources.
