Founded in 1958, Washington Hospital Healthcare System serves the residents of Fremont, Newark, Union City and part of South Hayward and unincorporated Sunol. The system’s mission is to meet the health care needs of district residents through medical services, education and research.

Its comprehensive health care services include 24-hour emergency care, childbirth and family services, cardiac surgery, nutritional counseling, outpatient surgery, pulmonary function, crisis intervention, respiratory care, rehabilitation services, social services, laboratory, medical imaging, level II nursery and hospice care. The system has a strategic relationship with University of California, San Francisco Medical Center and UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital.

The Washington Hospital Healthcare System Foundation is a nonprofit corporation created to serve as a guardian of gifts and bequests to the health care system.

Our work with Washington Hospital Healthcare System ranges from the launch of a regional simulation training center for nursing students and nurses, to support for Washington Hospital to attain Magnet designation, the highest level of recognition that an organization can receive for quality nursing care.
