Founded in 1952, Marin General Hospital is an independent, community hospital serving the health care needs of Marin County residents and the surrounding region. The Greenbrae campus includes the main hospital, which is the county’s only full service acute care facility, and four clinical buildings that offer diabetes, cancer, vascular and physical therapy services. The Marin General Hospital Foundation builds awareness and raises funds for hospital programs, services and technologies, such as a new electrophysiology lab and cardiovascular institute or new MRI equipment for the cancer center.
Public health education and screening programs, along with training and education for health professionals, complement the hospital’s clinical care. The hospital provides primary and secondary specialty care services for the uninsured, and charity care accounts for approximately 12 percent of operating expenses. Another 13 percent supports community benefit activities and grants to local service organization that increase access to care for Marin residents.
Marin General has received funding from the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation to implement initiatives and clinical interventions that reduce readmission rates and hospital complications.
