Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
The Renewable Resources Coalition, based in Anchorage, Alaska, was founded to preserve and protect the ongoing viability of Alaska's abundant fishing and hunting resources and the lands and waters they need to survive.
The Bristol Bay Fisheries Reserve was established in 1972 to protect the wild sockeye salmon of the region from the potentially harmful effects of oil and gas pollution. The Bristol Bay wild salmon industry provides food and employment for residents across the state of Alaska. One-third of the world's wild sockeye salmon supply comes from this region. As a result, the industry has helped to sustain the subsistence and cultural lifestyle of Alaska Natives throughout the state.
The coalition is governed by a board of directors, comprised mainly of commercial fishermen who live in the area and are passionate about and invested in protecting the salmon supply as well as the areas other prized natural resources. The coalition depends on a membership base, which helps to support its efforts.
