Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
The Alaska Community Foundation administers a number of grant funds to transform gifts from Alaskans into contributions that strengthen the local nonprofit sector and ensure the state’s future. Priority areas of impact include the outdoors, children and education, health and wellness, community development and arts and culture.
Projects range from supporting local native community efforts to protect Bristol Bay’s salmon and salmon habitat to building capacity for the Kenai Soil and Water Conservation District. Additionally, in partnership with the Rasmuson Foundation, the Alaska Community Foundation has helped incubate nine local community affiliate foundations to grow philanthropy and focus on the needs of specific geographic communities across the state.
