Established in 1963, the University System of New Hampshire is the largest provider of postsecondary education in New Hampshire with more than 34,000 enrolled students. The system’s institutions include the University of New Hampshire, Plymouth State University, Keene State College and Granite State College. The system’s vision is to be the very best small university system in the country. The system ranked first in the East for completion rates of students who began studies at a four-year public institution.
The flagship University of New Hampshire campus is located in Durham was founded in 1866. It offers more than 200 degree programs to almost 13,000 undergraduate and 2,500 graduate students. The Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans, and Space is the university’s largest research enterprise, receiving over $41 million a year in support from NASA, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, National Science Foundation and other federal agencies.
