Biography
Denise Strack has been the Chief Investment Officer for the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation since 2008. Denise manages the foundation’s $11 billion diversified portfolio which has consistently ranked in the top quartile for Foundations and Endowments. She is responsible for all facets of endowment management including asset allocation, risk management, legal and policy compliance, internal and external communications, manager selection, liquidity planning, and team management. She manages communications with the Board of Trustees regarding the foundation’s investment program and serves on the Executive Committee and Senior Management Team. Before assuming the position of Chief Investment Officer, Denise served as the Director of Private Equity and Real Assets from 2002-2008.
Prior to joining the Moore Foundation, Denise served as Director of Private Equity at Stanford Management Company where she oversaw investments in private equity, venture capital, and long-biased public equity relationships. Denise was also an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company in their private equity and financial services practice.
Denise is a member of the Stanford Graduate School of Business Trust, an investment committee member for two multibillion-dollar family offices and has served on numerous portfolio manager advisory boards over the years. She previously served on the Investment Committee at the Marin Community Foundation and has held numerous volunteer positions in the local public school system.
Denise has an M.B.A. and a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering, both from Stanford University. She was an elite level gymnast and a member of the Stanford University and United States National Gymnastics teams.
She lives with her husband and six children in Marin, California. She loves coaching middle school mathletes and enjoys traveling and skiing.
