Biography

Jennifer Frazier is a scientist and curator who creates public experiences with contemporary science. Most recently, she was the Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives at the Science Communication Lab, where she founded and led an initiative to engage the public with scientific data. For eighteen years she created exhibits at the Exploratorium, where she co-led the museum's program in biological sciences as a Senior Scientist and Curator. Jennifer has been awarded over a dozen grants to create and study new genres of museum exhibits, including Living Liquid, Cells to Self, and ¡Plantásticas! On these projects, Jennifer partnered with learning scientists to carry out peer-reviewed studies on how to design learning experiences with data and microscopy. Prior to her tenure at the Exploratorium, Jennifer created films and exhibits at National Academy of Sciences and PBS. Jennifer has a B.S. in Bioethics from the University of California at Davis and Ph.D. in Cell Biology from the University of California at San Francisco, where she is currently an Adjunct Professor of Biochemistry and teaches science communication. She has been an NSF Fellow, a AAAS Mass Media Fellow, UCSF Alumni of the Year, and winner of the NSF/AAAS Scientific Visualization Challenge.
