The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society of British Columbia (CPAWS-BC) is using this grant to identify First Nations’ issues and other key impediments that could affect Marine Protected Area (MPA) implementation in British Columbia and the rest of Canada, which committed to a national MPA system by 2012. Key outputs for this grant include an analysis of First Nations concerns influencing an MPA network in British Columbia and an analysis of the challenges to achieving Canada’s 2012 commitment to establishing a national MPA network.
