In support of constructing, equipping, and testing a Sub-Ice Remotely Operated Vehicle and a Geochemical Instrumentation Package for Sub-Ice Exploration. These instruments will be used for biological, chemical, geological, and physical sampling, to study the southern margin of the Ross Ice Shelf near the grounding line and the marine-linked subglacial lakes beneath an unstable margin of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet. This research will yield an understanding of past, present, and future states of this geologically and climatically important region of the Earth.
