To acquire, configure, test, and deploy a revolutionary radar system that is capable of observing detailed physical processes that occur during glacial ice flow at the ocean-ice interface. Funding will be used to develop a ground-based interferometric system that has a much finer spatial and temporal resolution than any current method, to configure multi-beam sonar to measure bathymetry and ice front configuration directly in the proglacial water, and to perform observations at two climatically important glaciers in Alaska: Yakutat and Lemon.
