In support of the collaborative projects Heteroplasmy: Population Dynamics of Mitochondria in Mammalian Cells & Commoditizing Advanced Molecular Imaging Techniques as proposed at the 2016 Scialog: Molecules Come to Life conference, where five team research proposals were selected through peer-review from nineteen team proposals that focused on convergence science at the intersection of physics and biology to address the need for a more quantitative, theory-based understanding of complex biological phenomena.
