Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
The purpose of this grant is to provide technical assistance to the coalition of wild salmon interests in the Skeena watershed seeking to improve the current approach to large-scale energy development projects such as coal bed methane and pipelines. The aim is that Government policy will explicitly recognize that energy projects in the Skeena watershed cannot be deemed ‘acceptable unless proven otherwise’. Instead, new decision-making processes will empower communities to make a social choice about potential developments, given full information about benefits, environmental safety and cumulative impacts.
