Centro de Trabalho Indigenista is using this grant to monitor and protect nearly five million hectares of indigenous territories in four areas within the Amazon Basin: Envira, Guapore, Javari, and Purus. These lands are an integral part of a larger 10-million-hectare corridor that spans the borders of Brazil, Peru, and Bolivia. Outcomes include increased management capacity, a Brazilian indigenous reserve workshop, and establishment of management for three existing Brazilian indigenous reserves: 700,000 hectares in the Envira Basin, State of Acre; 600,000 hectares in the Guapore River Valley, State of Rondonia; 8.5 million hectares in the Javari River Valley, State of Amazonas. Additional outcomes include creation and establishment of management for two new indigenous reserves, covering 455,000 hectares, in the Purus River Valley, State of Acre.
