Foundation president, Harvey Fineberg, and chairman emeritus and co-founder, Gordon Moore, discuss the Statement of Founders’ Intent with staff.
This grant supports scientific research into plant-climate and ecosystem-climate relationships on the eastern slope of the Andes, which harbors some of the highest levels of biodiversity on Earth. Outcomes include measurement and modeling of past climate change impacts on eastern Andean ecosystems; modeling of fire impacts on Andean vegetation and ecosystem function and the relationship between elevation, climate, and Andean vegetation distribution at local and landscape levels; identification of priority Andean conservation corridors and recommendations for mitigating climate change.
